Quelimane, the fourth largest city in Mozambique, stands out from other cities for its unique type of public transport: the bicycle. Due to the insufficiency of public transportation and the necessity to move around town, this well-known taxi bikes drivers became crucial and structured how the city lives and breathes. In an undulating cinematic ride, our main character Nhandjandji lead us through the mirabolante but precarious daily life adventures of these bike drivers. Due to this crazy and frenetic taxi system, parallel business such as public markets, meal places, vacant lots and repair shops flourish in every corner. They work, eat, talk, read and even sleep on theirs metal engines. We use to create cities adapted for bicycles, but in this peculiar story, bicycles created the city instead.
