Gonave

The 1920s, Gonave, a small Haitian island in the Caribbean Sea. A colonial invasion is underway, a road isbeing built over the jungle, its construction taking a harsh toll among the local workers. Marine Sergeant Faustin Wirkus, a friend of the island queen Ti-Memenne, plays island administrator. Persuaded by Ti-Memenne, he attempts to publicize the island inhabitants’ ordeal. He contacts a journalist - William Seabrook.
