Batalha is the most iconic room of the “Invicta” and one of the most important in the country. It accompanied throughout Portugal's entire 20th Century: it was built shortly before the regicide and grew up with the young Republic, resisted 40 years of dictatorship, shouted the 25th of April and witnessed Portugal's entry into the EEC. It survived censorship, experienced several revolutions and technological changes, but succumbed to the lack of public, even at the turn to the 21st Century. Two decades later, Batalha goes to work and will open its doors in 2021. Will it be ready to face the challenges of the 21st Century?
